Traditionally, your typical Men's rings came in just two types. You got your Class Ring in school and then you got your Wedding Ring on the happiest day of your life¦and that was it. No other reason to buy or wear a ring. These rings were of course nearly always made of gold, but sometimes they were made of silver.

Nowadays however, there are many more types of Men's Rings available to choose from, and now you don't need a special reason to wear one either.
So how do you choose the best available men's ring that's right for you?
Well, when it comes to how thick the band of your ring should be, there's a simple tip to help you choose.

If you are a man that has THICK fingers, get a ring with a THICK band. If you have THIN fingers go for a ring with a THIN band. Simple.

But ignore this advice at your peril. Wearing a thin ring when you have thick fingers will make you look cheap, and wearing a thick ring on thin fingers will make you look like a kid wearing his daddy's ring.

What metal should you go for?
Well traditionally the metals used in the crafting of Men's Rings were mainly Gold and Silver as stated above but White Gold, and Platinum became more popular too.

Thankfully, there are now even more choices available for us men to choose from. The two most fashionable metals at the moment are Tungsten and Titanium.

Tungsten has become very popular as a metal for men's rings mainly because it's highly durable, it won't scratch or dent too easily and when it's polished it has a very masculine dark gray colour reminiscent of smoke.

Titanium is a metal that has also become more popular on the market in the last few years. It looks like platinum but thankfully without the expense, and it is still highly durable, although not as durable as tungsten rings.

Whatever the particular metal you choose for your ring is really what looks good on you. When trying out rings in the store, maybe bring your partner or a friend to help you decide

. A tip to try to stick to is to have a watch that matches your ring. So if you've got a gold Rolex maybe you should stick with a gold ring!

Or you could try a two-tone ring. Two-tone rings combine white gold with tungsten or gold and platinum-or whatever two metals you like. These may give you more flexibility in style and matching with existing men's jewelry you own.

Textured surfaces are also popular. Faceted and laser matte finishes offer something different to the traditional shiny buffed finish.

Even if all he wears is a man's wedding band, there is a much larger and more fashionable selection than the gold bands of yesterday. Jewelers are now having fun designing creations for the Men's Wedding Ring market.

So whatever you decide on, follow these simple steps and you won't put a foot wrong¦or should I say finger!
