Kentucky Derby fourth place finisher Make Music for Me will be one of several longshots in Belmont Stakes betting.

The horse will be one amongst ten contenders in Belmont Stakes wagering on Saturday, June 5th.

Make Music For Me will be posted at double digits in the Belmont Stakes chances. The likely favorite in the race is Kentucky Derby 2nd place finisher Ice Box. Make Music for Me will need to strengthen if he is to be a contender in Belmont Stakes wagering. He ran not long ago at Belmont Park, going one mile in 1:43.65 with trainer Alexis Barba watching. The workout was the third one for Make Music For Me since the Derby. He breezed a half-mile in: 48 3/5 on May 10th and he went 5 furlongs in 1:03 1/5 on May 16th. Keeneland was the place of both those workouts.

Make Music for Me is owned by Peter and Ellen Johnson. He was ridden by Joel Rosario in the Kentucky Derby. He has only one win in 9 starts but he did place in the Del Mar Futurity and the Cash Call Futurity last year. He did not win his first race until earlier this year. That win was a one-length win in the Pasadena Stakes at Santa Anita. In the Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar last August, the horse revealed some ability as he was less than a length back of Lookin at Lucky. In the Cash Call Futurity, he ran behind Lookin at Lucky as well. Make Music for Me wasn't a contender in the Blue Grass Stakes as he finished sixth.

Make Music for Me is trained by Alexis Barba. She has not had much success on her own but she does train Alphie's Bet, who won the Swaps Stakes this year. Jockey Joel Rosario has received lots of fortune in Southern California not long ago as he picked up the Del Mar and Hollywood riding titles in 2009. He rode Dancing in Silks to the win in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Sprint at Santa Anita.

Belmont Stakes betting looks as though it's going to contain a lineup of ten. All of the jockey assignments are in except the one for Spangled Star. He is expected to be ridden by either Cornelio Velasquez or Edgar Prado. One of the big name jockeys in Belmont Stakes odds will be Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith who will ride Drosselmeyer in place of Kent Desormeaux. Smith is for 12 in the Belmont in his career.

The Belmont is a mile and a half competition and it can be capricious. Horses haven't raced this far in their career and they will not run this far again. Pedigree is important to take into account and Ice Box seems to fit the bill. He also has a fantastic trainer in Nick Zito. Fly Down is also trained by Zito and that horse could also be a contender in Belmont Stakes betting. He ran away from the heavily preferred Drosselmeyer in the Dwyer Stakes and appeared to have plenty left.
