The National League East is highlighted in Thursday MLB betting as the Phillies host the Marlins in a game that can be viewed on the MLB Network.

It's the end of a 3-game series in baseball betting and it is the last game of a 7-game homestand for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Mostly due to the fact they are at home, MLB betting odds like the Philadelphia Phillies in this game. Florida may prove to be preferred in the pitching matchup. Anibal Sancehz is slated to go on Thursday for Florida. He is 5-3 for the season with a 3.18 ERA. Until his last start against the Mets when he allowed 4 runs in 5 2/3 innings, Sanchez was rolling along. He had picked up his 4 earlier starts.

The Florida Marlins have held their own not too long ago against the Philadelphia Phillies in MLB betting. Before this series began they had won 11 of the last 20 against Philadelphia. Earlier this season they took 2 of 3 at Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Phillies are one of those teams in baseball that will play just as well on the road as at home so they could be overestimated at home. The last five meetings between the 2 teams had gone below the total before this series began.

The Marlins have been up and down this year and it can be hard to guess what they are going to do on a nightly basis. They certainly play better at home than on the road but it is not a huge distinction. The Florida Marlins are just average in hitting and in ERA. They have the ability to be excellent however with players like Hanley Ramirez hitting the ball and Josh Johnson pitching. Even Sanchez has demonstrated the capacity to be quite good.

Philadelphia has been much better at home this year than for the road, although not by a lot. The Philadelphia Phillies have inexplicably struggled to gain runs. They have a powerful lineup but Jimmy Rollins has been out of the lineup for most of the season and his lack has harmed the Philadelphia Phillies. The Philadelphia Phillies have obtained great pitching as they are in the top five in the league. It may be Jamie Moyer gaining the start in this game and he has been sound for the most part this year.

The Phillies' Roy Halladay threw a perfect game two weeks once more against the Florida Marlins, pitching the 20th perfect game in the majors. Halladay already has a Cy Young Award as well as six All-Star game selections to his name. He threw just the 8th perfect game in the National League's history, and just the 2nd for the Phillies. He struck out 11 of the Marlins' players and showed up the Marlins' pitcher, Josh Johnson, along the way. Later Johnson stated that it was unreal how Halladay does his thing. "No messing around, no joking around. He's there for one reason." That game went 1-0 for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Wednesday night's game was postponed as a result of rain and is going to be made up on Monday, September 6, as the Philadelphia Phillies and the Florida Marlins play a double header.
