Many people choose a low fat diet menu as part of their weight loss plan. Often individuals focus on creating a low fat diet menu that is full of unhealthy fats, they simply cut back on the number of fats that they intake. Though a lot of fat out there is really bad for you, there are some really good fats for you to eat as well. Our bodies actually need a certain percentage of fat to be healthy. Unfortunately, most Americans have too much fat because they like to indulge in unhealthy food choices. A low fat diet menu will only be able to correct that if you are incorporating healthy fats.

Fats are important because the fat droplets inside of our cells regulate excess proteins in our bodies. Although too much fat has a negative impact on our bodies, a certain amount of fat is needed for preserving the function of our cells. Fat droplets store DNA proteins and proteins that are unsafe to be stored elsewhere. Putting yourself on a low fat diet menu can be dangerous if you cut out too much fat.

The best low fat diet menu includes healthy fats. Some fats to include in your low fat diet menu include sunflower oil, nuts, olive oil, fish, and avocado. Saturated fats are somewhat controversial. Coconut oil has many reported health benefits, but there are a variety of opinions about whether it should be included in a low fat diet menu. Lean meats are a great source of protein and do not necessarily need to be avoided, but it is a good idea to trim the fat before cooking them.

A good low fat diet menu should not include margarine, french fries, fast foods, hydrogenated oils or an excessive amount of saturated fats. Saturated fats should be included in moderation. It is perfectly acceptable to sprinkle some cheese on your soups, but eating a bag of chips is not a healthy way to get the daily amount of fat your body needs. It is not the right type of fat and it is not healthy.

A low fat diet menu will work for you as long as you are eating enough of the right fats. You can burn off as much fat from your body as you need. Fat is stored when you burn fewer calories than you consume, so the goal is to burn more calories than you eat everyday. A low fat diet menu is a good choice because fats are higher in calories than carbohydrates and proteins.

When you create your weight loss program, do not forget that fat weighs less than muscle. However, unlike fat, muscle burns calories. Having a greater muscle mass will boost your metabolism and the daily number of calories burned per day. Therefore, for best results, combine an exercise program with your low fat diet menu.
