London is popular with tourists of all ages, and has plenty to do and see. This doesn''t always have to cost money, however ? many of the top tourist attractions are free. Eating out and going for a drink in London certainly is not free, so between mealtimes, why not take advantage of those diversions that don''t break the bank?

London is home to the Tate Modern and Tate Britain galleries, both of which are free to enter. The Tate Modern is world famous, and often features the work of the current crop of top modern artists. The Tate Britain has an extensive collection of British art from the sixteenth century right through to the present day.

Pretty much all of the museums in London are free, too. If you want to get to grips with the history of this famous city, the Museum of London is a good place to begin your education, as it covers the establishment of the settlement by Romans through to the recent history of the city.

A trip to St James Park affords great views of Buckingham Palace, and as a public park is free to enter. Hyde Park and the neighbouring Kensington Gardens offer huge areas of green space (and fresh air), and can be a welcome break from the bustle of the city.

The Changing of the Guard is a classic tourist attraction that you can see every day during the summer at 11:30am outside Buckingham Palace, and every other day at the same time during winter.

Trafalgar Square is another tourist hotspot that features the iconic Nelson''s Column, as well as being home to the National Gallery and quite a few pigeons! Another must see.

Westminster Abbey is a working church that is open to visitors (donations are welcome but nit mandatory). The Evensong service features the music of the impressive Abbey Choir, and is popular with both the religious and non-religious alike.

London is served by a comprehensive travel network of buses and tube trains, as well as being the home of the world famous London cabbie. London has plenty of options for car hire competing for your business if this is the route that you wish to take to navigate the city, but be warned that the city centre often gets congested during daylight hours.
