It is appearing like a lineup of 10 in Belmont Stakes odds for the final race in horse racing's Triple Crown on June 5th.

The favorite in Belmont Stakes betting is likely to be Derby runner-up Ice Box.

Belmont Stakes odds is not going to be loaded with celebrity as Derby winner Super Saver as well as Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky is not going to be in the lineup. There are other contenders to win the race, even though Ice Box will get a lot of attention. Dwyer Stake's winner Fly Down as well as runner-up Drosselmeyer are likely to be at single-digit Belmont Stakes odds. Preakness runner-up First Dude may also get some attention.

Other horses in the Belmont Stakes betting lineup are likely to be Derby fourth-place finisher Make Music for Me, Lone Star winner Game on Dude, Blue Grass winner Stately Victor, Stay Put, Uptowncharlybrown as well as Spangled Star.

Drosselmeyer just lately went six furlongs in 1:14.10 for trainer Bill Mott. He'll have Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith aboard in place of Kent Desormeaux. The mount has concluded in the top three in seven of 8 career starts. This will be Mott's first since 1999, though it's his fifth mount to the Belmont.

First Dude is exercising well before of the Belmont. He has been performing well in four of his 5 starts this year including the runner-up finish in the Preakness.

Make Music for Me is the property of Peter and Ellen Johnson. Joel Rosario raced him in the Derby. He has only one win in nine starts but he did place in the Del Mar Futurity as well as the Cash Call Futurity past year. He didn't win his first race up til earlier this year. That win was a one-length win in the Pasadena Stakes at Santa Anita. The mount has shown some potential as he was less than a length back of Lookin at Lucky in the Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar past August. He raced behind Lookin at Lucky in the Cash Call Futurity as well. Make Music for Me wasn't ever a factor in the Blue Grass Stakes as he finished 6th.

The Belmont is a 1 1/2 mile race so it can be capricious. Horses have never run this far in their career and they will not race this far again. Pedigree is necessary to consider and Ice Box appears to fit the bill. He additionally has a fine trainer in Nick Zito. Fly Down is also trained by Zito as well as that mount may also be a factor in Belmont Stakes odds. He raced away from the heavily preferred Drosselmeyer in the Dwyer Stakes and seemed to have plenty left.

With a lineup of 10 horses in the Belmont it will be a smaller lineup than either the Derby or the Preakness. It seems that there are four or 5 horses that could be in the mix with the other horses thought to be longshots. It would take something unpredicted for Make Music for Me, Stately Victor, Stay Put, Uptowncharlybrown or Spangled Star to win.
