Upon hearing the beautiful language of French spoken, there aren't many people who wouldn't want to be able to speak it for themselves. To speak French sounds more like an art than anything else and it truly is a magnificent language. Despite all of this, it is not outdated and serves as the international language of democracy, as well as being a very important language in finance and business. So how can you learn how to speak French and become truly fluent in it?

You can learn how to speak French in a number of ways. Although the immersion method may seem a bit frightening, it can be very effective and is how we all learned our native language. You could also watch French movies (without subtitles) or listen to a French news program. French magazines and newspapers can be quite interesting, and reading them can improve your reading skills.

Another interesting way in which you can learn how to speak French is by setting your mp3 player or cell phone to the French language setting. This may seem like a simple thing, but by associating actions and symbols with French words, you'll learn quite a bit. These are all little steps, but when added together they can be incredibly effective.

For a more conventional method, I would not suggest you look in a book shop. Textbooks are quite dull and will teach you very little. If you don't mind the high expense, night classes can be good from a social standpoint, and hiring a private tutor can be very effective. Each of these methods are fine, and effective to a point, but there are more effective ways.

If you can spend time in a French speaking country then this has to be the best way to learn how to speak French, but this option isn't open to many people. If you still want an effective experience, I would suggest your computer may be of considerable use in this domain. Language learning software and online language courses are very effective and also incredibly good value for money. There are some really expensive versions, but the middle of the range ones are very good. You can't get more convenient than learning from home, as often as you'd like and at whatever time of the day or night fits into your schedule. With games, audio lessons, self-tests, and an interactive component, they have all that you need in one place.

Although there are many options to choose from when you decide to learn how to speak French, they won't all fit well into your schedule or your budget, and several won't even result in fluency. But, with the right learning method and the motivation to learn, you can easily succeed in learning the French language. Short lessons on a regular basis is the best way to learn, as well as going through a process in which the complexity is gradually increased. So, the most convenient, effective way to learn how to speak French is most likely on your computer.
