What are piles ?

Dilatation of radicles of rectal veins inside the anal canal is known as piles.The medical term for piles is hemorrhoids.Compared to arteries veins are weak because of thin walls and hence any backpressure during the veins can make them tortuous.There are 3 rectal veins particularly superior, middle and inferior rectal veins.Any obstructions or increase of pressure in here veins can predispose piles.

Depending upon the condition there are 2 kinds of piles.

one) External piles. 2) Internal piles.

one) External piles:-

This type of piles is seen outside the anal gap and is covered by skin.It's black or brown in colour.This sort of piles is very painful due to wealthy nerve offer during this area.

2) Internal piles:-

It's within the anal canal and internal to the anal orifice.It looks lined by mucous membrane and is red or purple in colour.These piles are painless.

Several times internal plus external piles occure in same individual.

Factors accountable for piles:--

1) This can be a familial disease.

two) Piles is seen purely in animals maintain an erect posture. This can be because of congestion during the rectal veins due to the result of gravity.

three) It looks common in individuals having chronic constipation.People who have a habit of visiting the bathroom because of frequent urge for stool may develop piles in future.

4) Piles is common in those who take excess of chicken, prawns, spicy food ect.Those who take vegetables plus fibrous food are rarely affected.

five) A few women get piles throughout pregnancy due to compression of rectal veins by the uterus.

six) Cancerous lesions during the rectum can impede blood flow and result in piles.

Signs and symptoms of piles:--

1) Pain:-

Pain is common in external piles which is able to be worse whereas straining at stool.

two) Bleeding:-

Bleeding comes in splashes whereas pressing for stool.Bleeding can be profuse in some cases.

three) Protruding mass:-

In external piles the swelling can be felt around the anal orifice.In case of internal piles initially it can not be felt.When the disease progresses the piles protrude throughout stool and will go inside automatically.When the condition becomes worse the protruded piles can not return in to the anus.

4) In several cases there will be discharge of mucus with itching round the anal orifice.

Complications of piles:--

one,Infection: The infection may unfold to deep veins ensuing in septicaemia.
two,Fibrosis: Here the piles become fibrosed with hardening of anal orifice.
three,Thrombosis: Here the blood inside the piles will shape clots and could hinder blood flow.
4,Gangrene: Here the tissues during the piles plus nearby skin die due to lack of blood supply.
five,Suppuration: When the piles suppurate it may create abscess with discharge of pus.

Treatment of piles:--

Initially it looks treated on the premise of symptoms.Constipation should be treated.If there's anaemia iron must be give.Homoeopathic medicines can offer sensible results. If medicinal treatment is just not giving any result the following can be tried.

1) The thrombosed external pile is excised underneath native anaesthesia.

2) Sclerosant injection therapy can cut back the size of piles.

3) Rubber band ligation round the neck of piles is helpful in a few cases.

4) Cryosurgery is awfully effective.

5) Anal dilatation may reduce constipation and pain.

six) Haemorrhoidectomy is the legal surgical removal of piles.

A way to prevent piles?

1) Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

2) Take fibrous food.

3) Avoid excess intake of meat,prawns,crabs ect.

4) Stay a constant timing for food.

6) Drink sufficient amount of water.

7) Stay a regularity in bowel habits.

8) Take treatment for constipation.
