Leading Conferences against College Football Sports Book Probabilities

When you are getting ready to bet college football probabilities at the sportsbook you'll want to know which conferences are the strongest.

Last season the best conference was the SEC and they had the ultimate champ in Alabama. The SEC will probably be nice again this season but the fall to the second conference in sportsbook probabilities may not be very much.

Sportsbook probabilities favor Alabama to claim another national title. The SEC has dominated recently with the Alabama Crimson Tide taking the national title last season when Florida won in 2006 and in 2008 and LSU in 2007. The Crimson Tide is loaded again this year but repeating a national championship title is never simple in spite of what Florida did. Alabama should lead the way in 2010 while Florida, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Arkansas and South Carolina should all do great.

The Big 10 has Ohio State who is the second choice in probabilities at the sportsbook to get the national title. Terrelle Pryor is a Heisman Trophy pick and Ohio State's defense looks great. There are some challenging competitions for Ohio State against Miami, Penn State, Wisconsin and Iowa but the Buckeyes could run the table. Wisconsin and Iowa could accomplish the upset making a mark on the national title race.

The Big 12 certainly won't be as nice as it was a year ago. Texas and Oklahoma do not have the star quarterbacks any longer but neither team should fall very much. They just reload at those 2 schools. Nebraska is seeming nice but they shed some great defensive talent. The depth of the Big 12 doesn't look to be as nice as either the SEC or the Big 10 versus the college football probabilities at the sportsbook.

The Pac-10 looks wide open with USC and Oregon leading the way, but only barely. Oregon State should be right there and Stanford has an awesome quarterback in Andrew Luck. The ACC, with Virginia Tech a national title contender, is not much behind the Pac-10 this year. Miami and Florida State should also do great versus the college football probabilities at the sportsbook.

The Mountain West has most likely superceded the Big East as the conference which should get a BCS automatic bid. MCW has TCU, BYU and Utah when the Big East has a sporadic Pittsburgh team and a Cincinnati team that has got to replace their head coach.

The Mountain West Conference is made up primarily of previous Western Athletic Conference members before they branched off to create the MWC in 1999. The University of Utah and BYU out of Utah are 2 of the best colleges in college football in the MWC. These 2 teams are responsible for taking seven out of only eleven championships since the MWC formed when TCU and CSU divide the other 2. BYU specifically has developed a reputation as a "quarterback factory" for making so many powerful quarterbacks, for example Steve Young. BYU also holds the record for the highest number of consecutive competitions without having a shutout. The U of U was the sole undefeated team in the United States in the 2008-2009 season and also should be regarded as a threat.
