No one likes a messy house, but it is all to easy to find that your home is full of odds and ends, knicknacks and the like that have no 'home' nowhere specific that they should be kept. This is because whilst we may buy things that we like, or find useful (such as umbrellas), we rarely consider where they will go in the house.

A perfect example of this is umbrella stands. Now we need umbrellas. Whilst we may wish that the weather was always good enough for this not to be true it is a simple fact that it rains, and when it does we need to keep dry – ergo umbrellas.
But they take up space. More than that they can be wet after use, and so simply leaving them drip drying on your carpet, sofa or coffee table is not going to be ideal. You need somewhere that you can put it to stop water damage, and to stop them cluttering up your house (after all an umbrella is not exactly a small item).

It allows you to save on space and clutter, and create an attractive place for the umbrellas.
This can be extended to all sorts of clutter that tends to accumulate at home, not just umbrella stands. Consider such things as magazine racks to stop your magazine collection from spilling out all over the living room, or shelves to help house the collection of books you have tucked down the side of the sofa.
