It may also be the inclusion of a program to help employees lose weight or kick the smoking habit.

To ensure a healthy work environment employers must keep in mind the safety aspects of the workplace. To reduce the number of injuries and instances of back pain from repetitive tasks it is important to provide equipment and furnishings that are ergonomically friendly. In order to be as productive as possible employers need to minimize the amount of time staff are absent from work due to injuries and other medical conditions. To provide a more efficient, healthier working environment these problems should be prevented before they have a chance to occur.

Another important aspect to consider is the employees work schedules. Holiday entitlement and the number of days an employee can be absent due to illness should be set for the entire year. Stress in the workplace can be avoided by putting a more flexible schedule in place. Staff that has children should be allowed a flexible schedule that takes into account the times that they take their children to school.

The relationship between a manager and each of the employees that they look after is an extremely important factor in sustaining a healthy and productive workplace. Some managers are hesitant when it comes to approaching a member of staff who may be affected by personal problems that originate from outside of work. Unfortunately, personal problems can often affect the employees’ concentration whilst at work. It may well be the case that the supervisor can offer some form of assistance, so it is better for them to approach the employee.

Good health plays an important role in the productiveness of the working environment. Management can provide support and assistance to their members of staff in many ways, to enable them to perform their duties efficiently. The benefits will include a more pleasant and hopefully, more productive work place.
