Until the dilemma becomes a reality in somebody's life, most individuals don't like to think about troubles. Some of those things might be something like having cancer, dealing with the early death of a dear one, or facing the need to send someone you love to drug rehabilitation.

The difficulty with the last one is that you know the consequential actions are of the person's own doing, at least in the beginning. It's hard to look someone in the face and tell them that they need help, and that you think rehabilitation is the only answer for them.

Many individuals just keep using drugs their entire lives and if it doesn't ever really interfere with their life not much really can be done about the situation. You may not even see what is going on. I have heard of lots of individuals who have told themselves well just once won't hurt, and I just once turned into a lifelong dependence. They had a choice, and they made the wrong one, but some drugs will grab a person and will not let go. Their only hope of really getting away is to go through drug rehabilitation, and to hope that it only takes one time. For most individuals though it usually takes more than one time through a program to utterly get over it.

The really horrible thing, when it comes to harder drugs like meth or heroin or cocaine, it only takes that one time and a person's life becomes utterly controlled by the dependence. There is really no explaining the hold that these drugs have on some individuals. Watching one of your dear one suffer like this, even though they don't want to admit their suffering, can be really troubling and confusing and the fact is you'll try to do anything to help them stop. The problem is that this person is in an altered state of mind, and the mere reference of drug rehabilitation will make them defensive, and make them pull away. You really might be the only hope that person has though so don't let that stop you.

When you are trying to get someone into drug rehabilitation, they have to agree to go, unless certain things happen. If a person commits a crime because of the drugs then the authorities can draw up a court order making them go to drug rehabilitation. Heavy drug use causes individuals to do things they would not generally ever do if they weren't on them, so when this happens it is imperative that somebody really steps in. Once in a while a person can be convinced that they need to go to a drug rehabilitation if they are feeling guilty for their actions, but in most instances somebody who is really hooked won't even hear of it.

The only other reason that you can get somebody to go to a drug rehabilitation program forcibly is if they threaten the life of somebody else, or their own. Even in this case, it can be hard as authorities will take it at hearsay as they have to hear it. Whichever direction their decisions take them, if you love the person who is suffering from a drug dependence then do all that you can to help them get into a drug rehabilitation program. It can truly save their life.
