A fact usually ignored or unknown is that when in use, most of these products liberate some harmful chemicals into our atmosphere including volatile Organic Compounds which are tiny molecules, that evaporate into the atmosphere as soon as they are emitted. These products have as many as 100 VOCs; levels are considered high enough to be able to cause serious harm to people and the environment. What's more, out of these 100, 10 of them were considered too toxic to be placed under the classification of the hazardous materials under the federal law three out of which were identified to be air pollutants, capable of causing considerable environmental harm.
These products include Acetone, methyl chloride and acetaldehyde. Acetone is a solvent that is used mainly in nail polish remover, acetaldehyde. The other two, one, acetaldehyde was a chemical known to be a cause for cancer and exposure to methyl chloride can cause serious damages to the liver and the nervous system. Most users of these products are not even aware of the harm they could be causing to the environment, themselves and their families since the packaging of the products does not state their existence in the products.
Alternatives which have been invented to these products such as natural essential oils, which when added to an oil diffuser produces the same pleasant effect as the commercial incense is one sure bet to keep the bad effects of these harmful products at bay and what's even batter is that some of them can also be worn as perfumes. Use natural products that don't pollute the air like candles made of natural wax or the naturally scented potpourris, placed in a decorative dish. These candles give's you the same pleasurable of pollutant wax, without the harmful effect of polluting the air
Avoiding using sprays and incenses is hard as a good smelling house is pleasant to leave in, increasing the sense of well-being of the occupants as well as their moods.
