With the economy having gone down the tubes, everyone is beginning to look into advancing their education and are going back to school. Obama has recently passed new bills that are making going back to school much easier for low-income working and stay- at- home moms.

This recent recession in the economy we have been experiencing is undoubtedly the reason behind the sudden high peaking of unemployment rates in our nation. People working average entry level jobs and supporting their family without the advantages of a college education tend to be the demographic that suffer the most impact. With everyone worried about their immediate and long term financial future, people are using this period as an opportunity to go back to school and further their education so that when the economy finally recovers they will have created for themselves new and better opportunities for themselves and for their families. But with all of the teens and business men going to college, who will stand up for the education of mothers? Workings as well as stay- at- home moms often get shortchanged when it comes to their pursuing of a higher education because normally they cannot afford the costs entailed with it or they are unable to sacrifice the duties they have to their home and family. Obama is finding ways to give women new opportunities in education that they didn't have before.

Obama recently passed a bill through that commits the government to helping moms receive their education. The 'Moms Return to School' Government Grant is currently available to all mothers who make the decision to participate. Major benefits result from this grant including the fact that it will not only cover mothers who take campus classes at an institution but it also will help fund mothers choosing to go to school online. Mothers are often choosing online education because they can get their higher education online and do it with out having to quit their jobs or take away from time spent with their family.

The 'Moms Return to School' Grant is not the only new change to the government financial aid policies. Another Obama change has recently raised the award payment for Federal Pell Grant from $4050 to $5100. Federal Pell Grant money is a big help to students everywhere allowing them to pay for tuition, books, supplies and sometimes even basic costs of living. The best part about these Grants is that they free if you apply and qualify. Unlike student loans there is no interest and you don't have to give them anything back other than to make decent grades. Also be aware that as of recent, moms who decide to go back to school are now eligible for a new type tax credit. The American Opportunity Tax Credit Program is giving people a break; waiving all taxes on the first $4000 of your higher education. Be sure to remind your tax preparer that you are a student so they can apply all applicable tax credits to your case.

Many people are suffering financially every day and wondering if there is a way out. Education provides opportunities to get out of the situations they have been living in. The recent recession and Obama's new regime of education change have created opportunities for people to improve their financial help via education. We are being presented with more money for education than ever along with the opportunity to attend classes online. We need to get motivated as a nation and not let a lack of education hold us back any longer.
