Under-developed nations account for more than fourty percent of the worldwide population, and with records of sharp population increase rife in these nations. Distinctive features which are common to majority of third world nations include Impoverishment, high death rate, poor infrastructures, poor medical care, instability, a small amount of employment openings, low remunerations, soaring population and high percentage of illiteracy. This can be by way of improving learning facilities, expanding existing institutions, erecting more learning centers, harnessing extra qualified teachers, subsidizing or making the cost of education cheaper, and creating employment opportunities to absorb successful graduates which will furthermore encourage the youth to perceive a happy future in acquiring fundamental / higher education.

Additional sphere of significance in improving education in third world nations is in the area of knowledge transfer, from civilized countries. This is not to me misunderstood as knowledge espionage, but an organized process of training selected students from third world countries, that will in turn train others after they graduate and get back home. Clever and gifted students can be awarded national grants to study overseas in countries like United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Norway etc. Corporate organizations and philanthrophic organizations can also contribute in this regards, to support government's efforts.

Clearly, foreign education funding could be unaffordable for families and private organizations in most third world nations. Luckily, there are universities in countries like Norway, Sweden, Germany that do offer tuition-free programs. Furthermore, some Eastern European countries, like Ukraine, do offer inexpensive university education for international students.

Knowledge transfer from civilized nations, as an avenueel of improving education in third world nations will take some time before the results will become evident. Notwithstanding, for this to take place, it has to be constant, and in the long run, will demonstrate to be one of the best and most successful channel for effecting a radical transformation towards improving the literacy scenario of these countries.

Correctly executed, knowledge transfer from civilized nations will help in aligning most third world nations in the appropriate direction and track of socio-economic and technological growth, not only in the academic sector, but in the general sectors of the economy.
