Ibiza In September

For many a summer break on the island of Ibiza is all about young people having fun, on the beaches, in the sea and of course in the many famous night clubs, but head there during September and the island becomes a different proposition.

Of course most of the night clubs of Ibiza Town and San Antonio are still in operation (some delay their closing parties into October), but the beaches are a lot quieter, as are the restaurants, cafes and bars that give Ibiza it's unique appeal. Of course a trip to Ibiza would not be enjoyable without great weather and during September the very hot days of July and August are unlikely, being replaced by pleasantly warm and sunny conditions that return day after day. There'll be less chance that you'll need to head for the shade in the middle of the day because the sun is just too strong. The evenings during September are also pleasantly mild, although you may need to carry a jumper or jacket on some days, but the need to run the air conditioning all night in your villa or hotel room just to be able to sleep is unlikely.

Another aspect of holidays in Ibiza that many enjoy, but again is not widely known, is its ability to satisfy those who demand the highest standards in luxury and quality. Also many of the hotels now boast superb spa facilities and restaurants that are open to both residents and visitors. Those looking for a high quality food and music venue may head to the beach club and restaurant El Chiringuito, a luxurious setting on the beach at Es Cavallet, where those at the top of Ibiza's social scene, such at the likes of Jade Jagger, will while their evenings away to sound of the latest club beats.

Many visitors to Ibiza come back time and time again to enjoy the island's great choice of beaches. These range from the very popular town beaches and those at the main resorts, some that are only accessible by boat and a whole range of others in between. Families or those with younger children will enjoy places like Cala Sa Vincente, a beautiful beach that doesn't get too busy – in fact many people don't even know about it. Shallow waters run up to this crescent-shaped beach that sits below the rolling hills in the north of the island. There's a palm tree lined promenade and choice of classy cafes to enjoy, plus of course the clear, warm waters that are perfect for just paddling.

For a more remote beach you could try Cala Nova, close to the resort of Es Canar and less than 30 minutes from Ibiza Town by road. This beach is one of few on the island that has conditions for surfers and although the waters are shallow, swimmers should be aware of some stronger rip currents, which make is less ideal for young families. Close to the beach is the hip restaurant Zen Sea that offers modern al fresco dining.

Perhaps the most perfect beach for families is just up the coast, the wonderful sandy strip at Cala Llenya. Situated between Cala Nova and Cala Mastella this small beach is just 300 metres long yet ideal with shallow waters and pine trees nearby for shade and picnics. The beach is often home to games of volleyball and nearby there are a range of hotels and villas for rental. Even when the number of children is less during September, the beach is still popular for those who want to spend long lazy days by the sea. There is now also a busy night market at the San Carlos location on Mondays during the summer.

So make the most of your break in September and head south to Ibiza for a choice of stunning beaches, luxury accommodation and great food establishments.
