The contraction ITIL stands for Information Technology Infrastructure Library and is in reference to the most generally used approach in Information Technology (IT) service management all over the planet. In 2007 a fresh set consisting of 5 volumes was released and dubbed ITIL V3; the fresh set is designed to substitute the V2 set and is made up of:
1. ITIL Service Strategy
2. ITIL Service Design
3. ITIL Service Transition
4. ITIL Service Operation
5. ITIL Continual Service Improvement

As the V2 set is being replaced, the certifications associated with it and no more available; in the V3 set there are 4 stages of certification:
