The word “recession” sends a chill down the spine in many a people right now. This word was unheard of a couple of years back, but with the global economy crashing; it was on the tip of tongue of virtually every person. Many a people were laid off their jobs, many were benched, many fired and many lost their sole source of income. All was done in the name of cost cutting. When the whole world was suffering the pain of job losses, India showered ray of hopes as it showed promising grounds for various job seekers. The plethora of Job vacancies in India owed its existence to the IT revolution that swept the country. Other sectors which added optimism are the BPO sector, the strong government sector and many a developing private industries.

Various job openings in India include the openings in the banking sector. This affluent sector has been recruiting people of various cadres for positions such as bank clerks, probationary officers, special IT officers, technicians etc. The leading names among the recruiting banks are State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Central Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, Indian Overseas Bank. The paramilitary front of our country also promises to recruit a huge number of its citizens for various positions in the defense sector. The Indian army will alone recruit more than a thousand people in its regiment not to forget there are two more sub divisions of our defense sector; the Indian air force and the Indian navy. They will also absorb a substantial amount of work force.

Job openings rose sharply earlier this year, evidence that employers are slowly ramping up hiring as the economy improves.

The number of openings in January rose about 7.6 percent, to 2.7 million, compared with December, the Labor Department said. That's the highest total since February 2009.

There are now about 5.5 unemployed people, on average, competing for each opening. That's still far more than the 1.7 people who were competing for each opening when the recession began. But it's down from just over 6 people per opening in December 2009.

The Indian railway is the largest recruiter in the whole world and is currently holding the world record for the largest number of employees. Job opening in India also includes the Indian railways. From Ticket examiners to locomotive drivers to administrative staffs it has engaged millions and is regular in terms of recruitment.

The growth of IT sector in our country have seen rising trends as it is the outsourcing hub of the world, students in the information technology path can look forward to job opening in this sector. Places like the metros, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune are fast becoming major IT hubs of our country and are absorbing a large number of professionals and are far from being saturated. The presence of gigantic number of MBA Institute in India ensures that industry ready professionals roll out of these institutes every year ready to take on the world.
