How to safely clean your Children's Toys

It is very important to know how to safely clean your children's toys. Never use dangerous chemicals to clean them. Most disinfectants are poisonous not only to your baby but also to the environment. There are safer, economical and natural ways to clean your children's toys.

Plastic toys, tethers and anything wood generally ends up in your baby's mouth, on the floor and spit on. They get saliva on them and then pick up dust, sit on the floor for sometimes a week at a time and chances are, and the dog has probably played with them too. The easiest way to clean and disinfect everything in this category is by mixing equal parts of distilled white vinegar and water. Mix this together and put this in a spray bottle and use it just like you would any other cleaning product. This is always handy to have made up and ready to go at all times. You use this just as you would any other cleaning product. Spray the toys and wipe them off. The vinegar smell will go away and when it dries it will leave the toys residue free. These toys are safe for your child to put in their mouth and even have in their hands. This solution is always handy for cleaning play tables and chairs and even larger toys.

Stuffed animals, stuffed toys and anything fabric like mats also end up in your baby's mouth and very stained. Things in this category are not so easily wiped clean. If there are no washing instructions to follow (or you ripped them off like most people do), chances are you can throw them in the washing machine with baking soda and vinegar. If they're heavily soiled, sprinkle baking soda on the stains and let sit for awhile before washing. Most stuffed animals can be put in the dryer as long as there isn't any plastic on them they're usually hold up quite well.

White things like teddy bears and fluffy toys dogs usually get very stained and dingy. There's an easy remedy for these things too. Spritz some lemon juice on the stain and set it out in the sun. The sunshine will naturally bleach out the stains.

Children play with crayons and at some point; you are bound to have to clean up a crayon mess. Using white toothpaste and a toothbrush will generally get the crayon off of most items. It needs to be white toothpaste and not bleaching toothpaste.

Deodorizing baby bottles can be done with baking soda. Fill the bottles with water and then add a teaspoon of baking soda to each bottle. Shake them well and then rinse. Baking soda can also be used to neutralize diaper pails.

Your child is the most important person in your life and you want to protect him or her from anything that could possibly harm them. You can't stop children's toys from getting dirty and you cannot stop baby's from putting things in their mouths. You can however take natural steps to assure that you safely clean your children's toys.
