How to host an Unforgettable Lingerie Party

Let's face it, whether you live in LA, Paris, Sydney, New York, or Hong Kong, the most sort after parties of the rich and famous are the lingerie parties of the famous designers from Victoria Secret, La Perla to Elle. So what is it you must do to host a lingerie party that would rival any of the top designers?

The key to any lingerie party being successful is to make all of your clients as comfortable as possible. For many ladies, the thought of wearing lingerie in the comfort of their own home is scary enough let alone going to a party with strangers, family or friends and strutting around half exposed in the lingerie items.

1. Choose the right venue

To help a client be comfortable in this setting, a lingerie party venue must be private. It should be designed in such a way that both the client shouldn't be able to see out into any public area and the public should not be able to see in.

The venue should also be setup so that the lighting can be dimmed. One of the best ways is to turn all of the traditional lights off and to use a combination of lamps and candles to the light the venue. You can also improve sales buy burning lavender incense and enticing the nose.

Remember, the key with the venue is to ensure that the client doesn't feel uncomfortable, so having dim lighting will also help them feel as though people are starring.

The venue should have extremely comfortable lounge chairs made of fabric. The key is that the ladies need to be comfortable sitting whilst watching others try on the lingerie. Fabric lounges are a must, as no one wants to sit on a cold vinyl or leather couch with their skin visible.

2. Have a place for the ladies to change into the Lingerie

The area in which you are going to run the party should have portable change rooms. The reason this is critical is that many ladies are shy in trying lingerie on and what we have found is that when they are out of ear shot of their friends and family at these parties they are less likely to parade what they are wearing.

Clients will be more likely to buy if they are cheered on by their friends at the party. If this peer group support is not there then they are likely to decline purchasing any items.

3. Know the Size of the Clients before the Lingerie Party

One of the biggest mistakes I have seen hosts make before a lingerie party is to not know the physical size of the clients attending. When it comes to lingerie, people buy what they can see and try on. If you run a party without knowing the size of your clients you may find that nothing you have to offer will sell and they won't take a risk and buy from your catalogs.

The easiest sales at lingerie parties are ones that occur when the client falls in love with the item and they can take it home on the day. I have been to parties that have been a sales disaster simply because the host constantly tells a keen buyer they don't have anything in their size.

4. Give each person at least one Free piece of Lingerie

One of the easiest ways to encourage people to buy your lingerie is to give them a free piece that they can fall in love with. Most people who go to lingerie parties already accept that they will buy something but this quite often will not begin until they can try something on.

Lingerie items in most countries are not allowed to be resold once they are worn once. Here is the catch, if they try something on you are going to have to throw it away if they don't buy it so why not give it to them anyway. Clients will generally not buy anything until they know or feel comfortable that they know what size to buy in the lingerie. You can do all the measuring you want, it isn't till they try just one piece on, that they will buy anything.

Once a person is wearing the lingerie item and the group is cheering them on, they will then feel comfortable enough to buy others.

5. Provide Champagne and Cocktails with Finger Food

A lot of clients decide to have a lingerie party to celebrate a special occasion such as a hens party, a 21st birthday party or simply as a girls get together and because of this it is absolutely essential that you provide champagne and cocktails with the appropriate finger food.

The finger food should be as mess and spill free as possible. This is important for two reasons, the first is that people don't spill food on the lingerie and the second is so that people feel comfortable eating it. Always ensure that you check that your clients do not have a food allergy or intolerance to any of the food. There would be nothing more detrimental to your sales then to have a person collapse due to a food allergy.

Lingerie parties are a great way to earn a living but the key to their success is in making the client feel comfortable and safe in making their purchase and in buying the right lingerie for their body type.
