There are various basis of water damage .such as leak, blocked drains and building problems. But the very important and hazardous basis of water damage is leak. A broken supply line/leaky pipe, a leaky roof, overflow of water from a sink or bath tub, and the break down of a machine that carries water are some factors. There are two types of leaky pipes, one that drips slowly and slowly and/or only when water is passing through the pipe and one that offers a constant spray of water. Leaks that occur only when water flows through the pipe are hard to detect because the water has a chance of drying. There are some tips to be followed to reduce water damage caused by leak.

The primary and most important step to initiate when you see a leak is to shut off the water. If turning off the water on the machine that is leaking doesn't work, or you're not sure where the water is leaking from, and then shut off the central water valve. It should be located where cold water enters your house, inside in colder climates and outside in warmer climates.

The very important step after turning off the water clean up the mess originated by water leakage. As soon as you have turned off the water, the leak will need to be cleaned up. You should remove as much water as you can with a mop, towels, or rags until there is no water visible in the leak area. This wants to be done as soon as is possible because water can soak into floors, ceilings, and walls very rapidly.

After removing and extracting water with the help of mop, towel and rage you should freshen the damaged area. Because it is important for dry up process. Open all doors and windows around the house to let some air flow through. You can also put some stand-up or sitting fans in front of the leak area for a few hours to make sure it's all dry.

After taking some important care steps you should look around to make sure no other area is damaged. Water has a way of getting around without being seen. If the leak occurred upstairs, go downstairs and check your ceilings and walls.

The most important step to stop water damage is to install a water leak detection system. This system will discover a leak in your house and will alert you. This system will save your thousands of dollars. Some systems even shut off all the water in your house automatically when a leak is discovered, giving you peace of mind when you're away from house.

Than doing all this you should call a water damage restoration specialist to come and take a look at the effected area. If the leak was small and easy to cope there is no need, but if the leak was large and may have sunk into the floors or walls then it is important to make sure damage isn't still being done to your house.
