By doing an easy procedure you can construct your own solar cell that works:

Divide two pieces of copper sheeting using Sheet metal shears that match the measurements of the stove burner. Then wash it and clean it using sandpaper and cleanser. After you've finished the drying process, place one of the two sheets onto the burner, and place the burner on it hottest setting. Heat it for about half an hour. It will become black in about 30 minutes. Then turn off the burner and leave it like that on the burner to cool it down. When the temperature of the copper reaches room temperature again (in around 20-25 minutes), the majority of the black oxide will have disappeared. Scrubbing it by hand under running water will remove the small bits left over. This is where you get the necessary photosensitive layer.After this, get the other copper sheet and bend the two sheets to fit the curve of the walls inside the jars. Now fasten the alligator clip leads to both the copper plates which are kept in the jar. Next connect the lead from the clean copper plate to the positive section of the meter and the lead on the cuprous oxide plate to the negative section of the meter. Fill the jar with water saturated with salt. The newly created cell using solar power is completed. You can now test the complete circuit with the sun's rays.

Converting a solar cell is affected by the amount of energy that is inputed in the process. (radiating energy): the amount of power created (electrical energy).

The efficiency of a solar cell mainly depends on its spectral response which is nothing but the spectrum of light that the cell can respond to. The wider the spectral response is , the more power you can generate.

Controlling solar cell surface reflectivity

You can minimize the loss of photonic stimulation by adding a solar cell coating that stops excess reflectivity, and by the use of thinner electrodes on the face of the solar cell.

The amount of light which is blocked by the surface electrodes on the front of the cell also affects the efficiency of cells.

The temperature the cell operates at is important because the amount of current produced goes down as the temperature of the cell rises.
