The temporary storage for used files. The larger the cache size, the faster accessing back previously used files. this kind of specs currently available in 8 MB, 16 MB, and 32 MB.

Hard drive transfer in two ways, either via IDE or SATA. IDE hard drives are the previous version and they have 33 MB/s, 66 MB/s, 100 MB/s, and the fastest is 133 MB/s transfer rates. SATA hard drives are the newest generation of hard drive and naturally faster than IDE hard drives which have 10 MB/s and 300 MB/s transfer speed.

The biggest reason while make a decision to buy a hard drive is storage capacity, another factor which affects on a hard drive price is the RPM.

For more specific about hard drive brands, famous brands which have good reviews so far like Western Digital and Seagate are definitely worth and also the good choices as your new hard drive. The technology of hard drives always evolving and changing, so be sure to do some research beforehand.
