As with many things, the Internet has helped millions of people save money on products that they were traditionally probably paying over the odds for, due to the lack of competitiveness. With more and more companies now selling the same or similar products, consumers are able to pick and choose between the best prices and the best suppliers, with firms now having to fight harder for business to make sure that they continually keep the customer retention.

Below, we look at some of the ways the Internet has helped businesses to save money on their stationery requirments.

Shop Around – The Internet has brought together thousands of shops all in one place, meaning you no longer need to leave your house to find the cheapest supplier of the product you need. This is exactly the same for businesses; you can now find hundreds of your most competitive suppliers and view their prices all in one go, meaning you can now find the best possible price for the products you require. Before the Internet transformed they way we purchase things, you would normally have to rely on making phone calls or waiting for sales reps to visit you, but now you can see all the products and their prices with a few clicks of your mouse.

Price Comparison Sites – With the emergence of Kelkoo, Ciao! And Shop Zilla, you can now see hundreds of prices for thousands of products by simply just typing in the name of the product you are looking to purchase. It is similar to being able to enter hundreds of high street shops all in one go, looking at the shelf and seeing all of the prices displayed in front of you. Price comparison sites have really risen in terms of popularity over the past few years, with credit crunch and hard times upon us, most consumers are looking to save every possible penny, and these sites allow you to do this.

Cheapest Postage – With the rise of competition, businesses, companies and suppliers have had to find ways to compete in a very competitive world. One of the main advantages of this competition is that many now offer free delivery, scrapping the traditional postage costs that many firms have had to suffer for years previously. Even though you might only be saving three or four pounds, if you look at this across multiple purchases throughout the year, this adds up to a very considerable saving.

Different Ranges – Most businesses have always been reliant on the same brand, purely because they have not had the time to try an alternative or find the necessary time to look around for something similar which will save them money and also be as good as the product that they are used to. The Internet has allowed consumers to find cheaper products that are as good, or even better, than what they are used to because previous and current customers can now leave honest, independent and unbiased reviews meaning you can get proper information from non connected people.

Bulk Ordering – Traditionally, the more you order the more you save, with Internet being no exception to this. Many online suppliers still offer the more traditional discounts for multiple purchases, so just because you order online does not mean you miss out on these perks, quite the opposite.
