Many people who get acne try everything that they can think of to make it go away. Many people buy all sorts of products, face washes, topical treatments, and medications and yet still have acne. Some people simply need a stronger product. However, before resorting to harsh cosmetic medical procedures or money-draining products you may want to consider the relationship between acne and stress.

If you think that you're stressed and you have acne, the two may be related. This means that reducing the stress in your life may in turn reduce the amount of acne that you have. Following these tips may help to reduce your stress, which can help improve the look of your skin.

If you're feeling particularly overwhelmed, think about what you are doing in steps. You can do this by making a list. By looking at errands or tasks one at a time, they may seem less intimidating. You can clear your mind by looking at things as they are needed rather than thinking of what you need to do in the future.

If you are overwhelmed you may also be able to reduce the amount on your plate. For instance, if you have to do laundry, dishes, clean up, and cook dinner, you may be able to reduce your load. If your spouse or kids are just watching TV while you're working, nicely ask them to help out with one or two chores. Explain how much stress you are feeling and they may be more willing to help.

Another tip for reducing stress and thus acne is to breathe when you are feeling particularly stressed. Breathing in through the nose, out through the mouth very slowly can help to clear your mind and calm you down. Doing this several times can significantly lower anxiety and stress. Incorporating meditation with your breathing may help even more.

You may want to reconsider priorities. In other words, if things that you are doing are negatively impacting your health you might want to ask yourself if they are necessary. If not, try to not do them for a week or two to see if you are less stressed out or not. For instance, if you have your own business and work 60 hours a week, try working for only 50 or 55. If this is not possible, try cutting out other stressful things.

Consider reducing your caffeine intake. Caffeine can make people jittery and anxious, which can increase stress. If your body and mind both feel on edge, you may feel even more stressed than you would otherwise.

Think about seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist. This may be a somewhat expensive solution to acne, but it can help you in many other ways. By talking to someone about your stress and emotions, you may get to the root of many issues in your life.

Seeking therapy requires one to make a commitment to getting better, though. It is not a "quick fix" - it takes a lot of time and emotional investment. However, as a result, you may feel happier and your acne may go away or get better.
