Holidays in Disneyworld Resort, Orlando

We decided as we were returning as a much smaller group - a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children) we would stay in a hotel, entertainments are of the essence on holiday, and hotels generally always pull through for us. We went for a Disney hotel as we know that they pride themselves on great service and facilities.

Being located close to the parks is a top of the list priority for us and with the many added Disney guests benefits on offer to we decided to just go for it. We always thought that a Disney hotel holiday would be way out of our price range, but with the help of Fleetway Travel and the bargain deals they offered us, it would have been silly to go elsewhere.

Staying in a deluxe resort is not something that we generally do, as villa holiday veterans we were pleasantly surprised. From the very beginning of the trip we knew that this was definitely going to be a holiday of a lifetime. We had two rooms at the hotel, they were conveniently located next door to each other and both were very spacious and bulging with facilities.

I had heard that American hotel rooms beat those of Europe hands down - but these were beyond my expectations. The friendly maid service is an absolute asset to the holiday and they spotlessly cleaned the rooms daily, which wasn't always necessary but a great touch! The fact that you take a boat to the Magic Kingdom even brought Disney magic to my eyes and the shuttle bus service to the other parks was so convenient, Americans can't be faulted when it comes to organisation and the shuttle bus system here really showed this when you compare it to the chaotic situation at Disneyland Paris! We went to theme parks most days.

We spent the first week exploring Disneyworld and the second week exploring the other great parks in the area. Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, Island of Adventure and SeaWorld - to name a few. We had an utterly fabulous time in each and every park, but being just a stones throw away from the Disney parks meant that the more convenient days out touched our hearts more.

The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom were our absolute favourites along with Universal Studios and Island of Adventure. Most evening meals were enjoyed wherever we found ourselves to be. International Drive have plenty of great places as does Downtown Disney.

All of the theme parks boast a great range of eateries however and are not to be sneered at. The Artist Point Restaurant in the hotel is great - rolling upstairs to bed on a full stomach is the ideal!

We also checked out the restaurants in the other deluxe hotels, we did this more to be nosy than sample the cuisine. We decided that The Wilderness Lodge seemed far better suited to a young family and the ambiance just couldn't be beaten. It's easy to see that the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary Hotels will be great for couples and families with older kids however.

The swimming pools at our hotel became an experience of it's own, my kids love to play there before dinner, they really are built to impress! No guests in the hotel weren't pleased with the endless list of facilities on offer.

The Fort Winderness Campground's walking trails and ultra outdoorsy activities are easily accessible and a great alternative when theme parks get the better of you. The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful hotel, I felt really privileged to be there. I can't thank Fleetway Travel enough for organising this great deal for us, I will definitely be booking my holidays through them in the future.
