But you simply don't pick up a club and start swinging your way round the course and hitting those balls. For those who want to get into golfing, here are some golf pointers for the newb :

It is necessary for a golfer to find out how to properly hold their clubs. This is applicable for both right and left handed golfers. Starting with the Top Hand Grip. To be ready to assume control of your club during impact, your hands must be in the right position.

The club should be placed more in the fingers rather than the palm as it enables a more flexible movement of the wrist ensuing to straighter and longer tee shots. The thumb should be resting straight down the golf grip. The other thumb should then be placed over the first but not facing directly straight down like the other thumb's position. Instead, it should be a little pointed towards your shoulder. If the club is placed more about the palm, it is weaker. So as you do your swing and as your body turns with it, so does your golf club. The fundamentals of gripping the club can give out enough power for your hits.

Players with large hands should use an overlapping sort of grip, the kind wherein the pinky is placed between and on top of the other hands' forefinger and middle finger. While for those with medium- sized hands, they should use an interlocking grip. This is the sort of grip wherein the pinky is placed between the middle and forefinger of the other hand. Players with smaller hands should use the ten- finger grip, the type of grip whereby all fingers are on the grip. It is like holding a baseball bat.

The clubs should be held gently helping the player to make straighter and further hits. Practicing these proper grips can improve golfing performance. The right sort of grip must match the scale of your hands so that you can control its power.
