1. By giving away free stuff, you can build a strong subscriber list! Everyone you know and don't know loves a free gift. Even if they are hesitant of what the free gift is. You should always look for something to give of value to your subscriber list. You could offer your subscribers a bonus for signing up in one of your programs . A popular gift that I see alot is an e-book. Personally, I'm a fan of e-books. Videos or downloadable software works just fine too. Everyone loves that fact that they can get something for free, it shows that you really appreciate them and there loyalty.

2. Offer great content for your readers and great products for your customers. Chances are, they will come back again and again if you offer high quality content and products. Be an expert with your content and always create content that you would buy or read. People want quality, and it's your job to provide it consistently. It's the cement to your subscriber list.

3. Don't make the sign-up process complicated. The more information you ask for, the lesser people will opt-in. From what I've seen, a typical name and e-mail will do for most people. Adding a phone option is ok, as long as you make sure you let them know it's voluntary. For some reason, the word "optional" relaxes people. If you want to drive your potential subsrcibers away, then ask for more information than they want to give.

4. Make sure you promise your subscribers that you won't send them 1,000 e-mails a week. Publish a privacy guideline to assure this. You and I know that spam is a huge business. The only way spammers can stay in business if is they continue to spam. GOD bless spam filters. The minute you starting spamming there e-mail, you might as well get a shovel and dig your own grave. They will not do business with you. Just make sure your reader can trust you with there data.

5. Lastly, never be reluctant to ask your subscriber list for referrals. Take note, don't just ask for a referral, but for ask for referrals. Ask for at least 5 referrals. It never hurts to ask. If they show interest in your site then there is a good chance that they may know someone else that would be interested also. There are individuals that run their business on referrals only. The concept works.

6. Lastly, show your reader or customers that you are concerned about your community! Involvement with your community is a plus. You can support different charities that advance the human race. You can participate in marathons or even speak at small community events. Or what about going green and caring more for your enviroment. This one technique attracts people! Go Green! People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
