Once you have learnt to do it yourself, you will find that bathroom sink plumbing is a very easy task. This will help you save lots of money that could have otherwise been spent on a plumber. Be it installation or even repair, bathroom sink plumbing you will find that the task is very easy and you can do it yourself rapidly. It does not matter what kind of sink you use because the drain as well as the water-supply connections can be easily understood just by taking a look at them. Therefore, the next time your bathroom sinks require a repair, you do not have to go looking for a plumber. As you are about to find out, undertaking the task yourself is quite easy.
To avoid getting into problems while undertaking the task, it is advisable that you avoid rushing into the procedure. Begin with getting rid of anything that is placed beneath the bathroom sink before spreading out a towel at the bottom. This will help in preventing any leakages or drips so the water will not flow all over the whole vanity. Turn off all water supplies leading to the sinks. Make sure the water has totally stopped before removing all the supply lines. To remove the faucet at the bottom, use pliers.
The next step after loosening the faucet should be to remove the water lines originating from the wall then using a towel, clean the threads and dry them. Once they have dried up, wrap them using a pipe tape. Wrap it around thrice to ensure the threads are fully covered. After this it is safe to thread the supply line that you just bought to the faucet. Take care not to cross thread. This should be repeated on the other water lines too.
Place a little bucket beneath the drain tap so that any water in the draining tap does not leak out. To begin with, you have to loosen the upper nut before loosening the one on the pipe. Put the pipe into the bucket. Get rid of all old washers as well as all the nuts on the pipes. All parts that are not spoilt must be kept safely as they may be required later. For clogged sinks, you have to find out more on how to unclog it.
Carefully clean all the pipes then dry them. The large nut should be placed onto the pipe originating from the wall with the thread facing out. Once the nut is in place, the washer, with its beveled edge out should also be placed on the pipe. The large nut can then be placed and held on the sink's drain with its face away from the sink. Be careful as you place the washer down.
With great care, place the dope round the threads. The pipe is then slid over the wall then from the sink. Slide the big nuts into the threads and make sure you tighten them using your hands. Use a channel lock to give the nuts half turns. Do not exceed the half turn as this will make them break. Your task can be taken to be complete once you are done with all these.
