In order to get rid of head lice eggs, you need to discover how they propagate. Head lice are not like other "bugs" They don't fly around or anything like that. The most common way in which head lice spread is from head to head from one host to another host.

Animals do not get affected from head lice infestation. Rather, head lice prefer the moist, humid jungle like environment of the human head. Let's face it the human scalp perspires so it is like a jungle up there! Head lice most often are spread amongst children in certain social environments like school, the playground or even a day care center. Wherever childen congregate you can be sure that the possibility of head lice exists. It does not take long for one child to pass a head lice infestation to another child!

It does not matter from which strata of the socioeconomic scale that you or your child come from as all children and even adults can get head lice. Head lice do not care where you come from or how much money you have. Contact is the key that allows these little blood feeders to multiply and they need human blood to stay alive in order to lay their eggs. An adult head lice like many bugs has six legs and are clawed so that they have a way to adhere to the human hair shaft. Female head lice can lay upwards of up to seven eggs a day and they incorporate a strong bio adhesive to stick the egg to the hair shaft so that the egg can be conceived.

It can take up to one week or as long as ten days for the full incubation to occur, so this is the most beneficial time to get rid of head lice eggs on the affected persons head. To find head lice eggs you will need a good light source and a comb and then you will part the hair out in rows in order to section out the scalp of the affected person and you will begin your search there.

Head lice eggs are small, about the size of a sesame seed and they generally are found around one half inch from the scalp attached to the hair shaft. Also check the scalp for little black flecks as this is head lice fecal matter, a sure indication that head lice are present. If you are using a standard pocket comb to part out the hair and search, this is good for now, but in the long run it is a far better recommendation to get a "nit" comb for the chore at hand and for the one's to come. Nit combs are nifty little combs with teeth that are designed to snag and trap the lice and allow you to pull then off the hair shaft. This is where you get to take no prisoners when it comes to head lice.

Using the comb is one of the best ways to divest yourself of head lice and you may have to complete this combing more that once then after each combing session a good long hot shower and shampooing will also help you to get rid of head lice eggs.
