- The presence of diving birds is an indication that shows that tuna fish are available somewhere nearby. Diving birds will be in full action if they find bait fish and so you can conclude that tuna fish will also be there close by.

- Tuna fish like to be follow the company of their bigger brothers like whales and sharks. So wherever you see whales and sharks, you can attempt tuna fishing there and you may certainly succeed in getting a good catch.

- While you are trolling for tuna fish, your speed should not exceed 5 to 8 miles per hour. Trolling should be done adopting a W pattern because only then, you will be able to trick the tuna fish. They will mistake your baits as a bait fish and fall a prey to them.

- Your equipment to catch the tuna fish must be fitting and appropriate. Tuna fish are tenacious in nature and they will give a tough fight while you attempt to catch them. Hence if your fishing equipment are weak, they will be broken. Further, weak equipments may cause severe injury to you also. Experts suggest that you should use a two speed trolling reel, a robust and strong reel and rod for doing your tuna fishing.

- It is also suggested that you should hook your bait sideways. You should also leave at least 100 yards of your line behind the boat. If you observe a slackness in the line, you can construe that the tuna fish is approaching your boat.
