Keep It Simple

Have a simple swing.. A compact swing can remove those motions that could be getting in the way of a good swing. Until you begin to get your swing under control try using a simple three-quarters swing and don't bend your elbows. This can help you get into the right groove.

Rhythm and Tempo

You need rhythm for a great swing. You need to have a smooth rhythm to get your swing into that smooth groove. Hum a tune or count to get a tempo down for a smooth swing. With a three-quarters swing it's a lot less difficult to get into that simple 1-2...3 rhythm. That is 1-2 on the backswing and 3 on the downswing.

Hands and Stance

Your stance should be so your are aiming slightly to the right of the target and your grip should be in a strong position holding the club firmly, but not with a death grip. Too tight a grip will make your muscles tighten preventing a smooth motion. One of the major causes of slicing is that the club is twisted during the swing, which makes it hit the ball from the outside in, thus creating a slice.

Pivot Around Your Spine

Keep your spine straight and acting as an axis for your swing. Your body can rotate around this axis but it can not move from side to side. This will help you simplify your golf swing

Hip Rotation

With your spine straight, minimize hip rotation in your golf swing. In golf, that hip rotation causes slicing. But don't remove hip rotation in your swing as it is still needed to create power in your swing.

Many golfers try to copy the golf swings of the well-known pros. But it should be noted that there is no such thing as THE perfect swing. There is only the perfect swing for each golfer. Each of our bodies is made differently so we each must create the swing for the body we live in. With the right tools and consistent practice we can realize that perfect swing for each of us.

Here are a few more basics that can help you get your swing "in the groove".

1. Be correctly aligned. Place a club on the ground lined up directly to the target and make certain that your toes are on that same line. However while you are trying to fix a slice your right toes should be slightly behind the line so you will bring the clubface from the inside out counteracting a slicing motion. Sometimes, golfers will try to correct for a slice by pulling the left foot back and aiming to the left. This simply creates a slice.

2. Make sure that you have a relaxed stance that will let you rotate your body in the most natural way possible. When you achieve that comfortable stance, you will have fewer problems.

3. Concentrate on your shot. Don't let your mind wander to what just happened or what may happen next.

4 After all of your practicing let your natural rhythm take over. Do not think about the mechanics of the golf swing. Such thoughts will distract you and you swing...

Keep it simple.so you can concentrate and keep your eye on the ball.
