From the French dictionary a giclee (zhee-CLAY) is going to be defined as meaning to spray or squirt. Still some might pronounce "giclee" doesn't mean "to spray, that "Giclee" isn't an infinitive and that it's the feminine of the past participle. So if we do have some dispute over what the term Giclee means I think that the intent of the idea is to define a printed copy of an original artwork. Giclee is essentially scanning the artwork after which using that scan to print it out on the special printer. This printer isn't similar as an average desktop inkjet printer, and is way larger. Giclee prints are slightly more than a meter wide.

Giclees are created from digital scans of existing artwork. Also, since many artists now produce just digital art, we do have no "original" that may be hung on a wall. Giclees solve that problem, while making a whole different exciting digital medium for art.

When printing you'll find any lots of media for example canvas to watercolor paper to transparent acetates. Giclees are better then the traditional lithography in lots of ways. The colours are brighter, last longer and are so high-resolution that they are virtually constant tone, as opposed to tiny dots. The range of color for giclees is far beyond those of lithography, and by viewing in comparison with both you will discover that the details are far crisper in giclee.
Lithography prints use tiny dots of four colors--cyan, magenta, yellow and black; to fool the eye into viewing an assortment of hues and shades. Colors are "produced" by printing different size dots of those four colors.

Again Giclees use inkjet technology, although more refined than your desktop printer. It employs six colors--light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta, yellow and black--of lightfast, pigmented inks and finer, more abundant, and replaceable print heads giving you a wider color gamut, and a chance to employ various media to print on. The ink is sprayed on the page, actually mixing the color within the page to make true shades and hues.

Giclees had been first developed being a proofing arrangement for lithograph printing presses, however were to become evident how the presses were having a hard time delivering the quality and color within the giclee proofs. They evolved into very popular form over lithography's and are actually the less expensive and much more common way to manufacture a copy print. They're desirable by collectors for their fidelity and quality, and desired by galleries because they don't have to become formed in vast quantities by means of their substantial layout of money and storage space.
Besides, Giclees are created directly from a digital file that is created by scanning the original. This may save years of detail-robbing negatives and printing plates, as with customary printing.
