Julie likes working as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. She starts every day with a smile on her face.

So, how will you be happy go lucky like Julie? Would becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer a good career move for you?
Ultrasound technology uses ultrasound to get a snapshot of what is going on in the body. A very frequent use of ultrasound technology is to examine pregnant moms' fetuses to see that they are thriving. Additionally, heart sonograms are used to see the shape of the cardiovascular system surrounding it. Motion can also be examined to learn how effectively the cardiovascular system is performing. Even though cardiology is another great use of ultrasound technology, Julie spends her time doing ultrasounds for maternity patients, not heart patients. Let us see at how ultrasound technology is executed for pregnant women.

For future moms, the Ultrasound Technician puts a slick substance on the maternity patient's belly region. Then, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer moves the sonography wand on her belly slowly to confirm that everything looks good with the baby.

Another common thing that happens during this procedure is that the baby's sex is found out. This is an exciting time in most people's lives and Julie really likes explaining future moms that everything is ok as expected. Also, if the pregnant lady wants to know and Julie sees it with the sonogram,Julie will tell the sex to the happy mother to be.
Additionally, Julie confirms that there is nothing clearly wrong with the fetus, such as it sporting twelve arms. The fetus always successfully completes the eight eye test, so it is a crowd pleaser. Also, she sees if there are any areas that call out to her. Very occasionally, there may be an area that the ultrasound displays as an area to examine further. If that does happen and Julie wants to hear another opinion on it, then she can call a radiologist for their ideas or reschedule the expectant mother for another visit.

Almost always, everything checks out and Julie shows the mom the blurry snapshot of her fetus. And first time expectant moms post that snapshot on Shutterfly, make magnets of it and do whatever else that strikes their fancy.

Julie shares their moment of great joy as they see a snapshot of their fetus. This is what keeps Julie satisfied and gets her excited about work on Mondays. She had wanted to become a doctor, but becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was a much shorter time commitment, so that she was able to start a family of her own. And then Julie did have a pretty good idea what was happening when she got her own ultrasound.
