Punch elevation is similar to punch excision, however, in this case of punch elevation the walls of the scar are left untouched. Fillers or sutures are used to bring the base of the scar to skin level. Finally, grafted skin is used to close the wound.

Rolling Scars & Subcutaneous Incision

Rolling scars are caused when fibrous bands of tissue develop between the skin layers. These bands pull down the epidermis making the skin take on a wave-like appearance. In cases such as this, the best treatment option is subcision.

In this procedure a small needle or scalpel is used to separate the epidermis from the deeper scar tissue. The epidermis will become more level once the blood accumulates in the space between these two layers. Dermal fillers may be required if the scar tissue is too deep.
