My favorite! I’ve done yoga and i’ve been into it for a long time. The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word “Yuj”, meaning to “unite”. It’s an ancient art that develops your breathing and general health condition. With good practice and persistence you can achieve a moderate level in just a dozen years. Scared already? Well, the good news is - not anymore, thanks to Nintendo and the unique wii fit balance board.

The wii fit balance board will measure your center of balance and will tell you how well you are doing. There are many different poses starting from the easiest to the hardest. Nintendo named the poses a little bit freely but luckily you will see their real names. By the way poses in yoga are called “asana”, a good thing to know. I guess you can call them wii asana.

For the yoga sessions, you pick a wii fit trainer (male or female) to work with. The trainer shows you the asana and then you do them together. The wii fit trainer will not only give you pieces of advice on what you should do and how you should move your body but also give you considerable amounts of motivation.

The asana are held usually up to 40 seconds. While you are doing the pose, graphics on the screen indicate your balance. Keep your TV at eye level so that you can see without turning your neck.

What kind of Yoga it would be without breathing exercises. Oh yes, the wii fit will guide you through the proper breathing routines. The exercises have a light blue circle that expands when you’re supposed to exhale and contracts when you’re supposed to inhale.

You have access to only four yoga poses when you first start the game: Deep Breathing, Half-Moon, Warrior, and Tree. Other poses are unlocked as you accumulate more minutes in your Fit Bank. Many of the final yoga poses are the last activities that you unlock in the entire game.

As you learn new moves, you will gain better advices for keeping yourself fit, slim and trim. By keeping your fitness level at the top, you are simply achieving what is considered important nowadays and that is feeling good.
Don’t be fooled by the Nintendo Wii name and the game console ring to it. Most of the exercises are very real and demanding; if you are not used to working out you will work up a sweat for sure. Some of the activities included aerobic and balance activities that let you do anything from rotating a hula hoop around the onscreen figures hips, by moving yours with the same circular motion, to doing a downhill snowboarding race. Like all games you could probably cheat after awhile by knowing exactly when you have to shift your weight around, but what would the point of that be. You would cheat yourself out of a good exercise and would be wasting your own time.

To sum things up a bit the nintendo wii Fit is a very entertaining way to get fit, no it does not replace a full scale Gym. But on the other hand, being able to train in your own home or anywhere else for that matter. You can put the unit in a small satchel and take it to your friend’s house and train with a partner. These features alone make it worth. Many have said Exercising is boring, well the Wii Fit had been able to turn the tables on that old adage and find a way to make exercise fun and innovative.
