Generate More Conversions With Your Blog

My previous post I wrote about how to get more prospects to your blog, so the next step is to translate that traffic into leads!

Here are a couple of tips about getting leads on your blog:

Almost certainly the most vital is to produce good content. Most of the people that opt-in are people that have returned to my blog multiple times. When I talk to them on the phone, they usually tell me how they’ve been reading my blog and how they like it. Take the time to really think about what your target audience wants to learn about and what will help them the most.

Certainly, you need to have an opt-in form. It has to be observable on ALL your pages, not just your home page. A lot of your traffic will start out on a page other than your home page. I made my opt in form through Aweber. It can be a bit confusing, but just play around with it until you come across one you like. The header on my opt in form I created in about 10 minutes on Photoshop (and trust me, I’m no connoisseur in Photoshop!).

Shoot a video regarding your free offer next to your opt in form. I used to just have a video welcoming people to my blog, but when I changed the video to be a welcome video and a little sale for my free course, my leads doubled.

Keep people on your blog for as much time as possible. One technique is to have a “recent posts” or “popular posts” widget on the sidebar of your blog so visitors can travel effortlessly to other posts. Here are a fewplug-ins that help keep people on your blog as well:

Comment Redirect- When people comment, they are sent to a thank you page
What Would Seth Godin Do- Visitors see customized greetings
Related Posts- At the end of your blog post, the visitor will see other related posts

Needless to say, be consistent in posting new material! I know bloggers that post once or twice EVERY day… I personally consider that is a little much, but 2-3 times a week will cause people and the search engines to see you. If you become lazy and don’t write for a week or two, people begin to forget about you, but if you make something new every 2 days, then you have people coming back to your blog constantly for new stuff. Remember, the more return visitors you have, the more total traffic and conversions you get!

Lastly, be patient! Having a blog doesn’t mean leads right away. The most excellent way to evaluate your progress at the beginning is by your Alexa ranking (alexa.com) rather than leads. This way you can judge how popular your blog is and if it is growing and increasing traffic.

It might (and most likely will) take months before you see any substantial lead flow because at the beginning you don’t just have sufficient traffic. If you do what I advise in this post and in my post before this one, you can significantly decrease how long you have to wait before you get results!

See You At The Top!
