Since the 1941 launch of “Uncle Jim’s Question Bee” on television Americans have fallen for game shows. Over the years many have come and gone but the vision for many Americans of becoming the claimant for a million bucks has not ebbed. It takes both chance and know-how to be successful on these shows and the following list details the 7 game shows that doled out the largest amounts of cash.
Even though people have won money on these games it isn’t very likely. So stop day-dreaming and put your efforts into a sure thing that will increase your monetary worth. One of those ways is by going to school and earning a degree. It is much more probable that you will advance yourself by working for it than you might by fantasizing about becoming wealthy while watching the television. Wealth by and large is an active pursuit, not a passive event. These contestants didn’t just stroll onto the game show they studied and strengthened their minds by memorizing facts so that is obviously the best way to go. There are benefits attached to being intelligent, such as knowing enough factoids to win a game show but that shouldn’t be your main goal.

1. Jeopardy - the greatest winnings were won by Bradford Rutter, who had a total earning of $3,255,102. Not only was this the highest win Jeopardy but in game show history. Ken Jennings came in right behind, earning a total of $3,022,700 over seventy four Jeopardy wins.

2. Who Wants to be a Millionaire - The prize is pretty self-explanatory for this show 1 million is the top allotment here and twelve Americans have accomplished that.

3. Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader - Up to now two people have gained the $1 million prize. One was a superintendent of public schools and the other a Nobel Prize winner in Physics.

4. Wheel of Fortune - the largest prize was one million with winnings totalling $1,026,080.

5. Deal or No Deal - in 2008 a contestant garnered $500,000 from the bank. Later, 2 contestants collected the million dollar prize when the show tacked on another million dollar case to the mix.

6. 1 vs. 100 - the first champion was Jason Luna, a twenty one year old from San Diego who faced a one hundred-woman mob.

7. Weakest Link - the prospective prize was $1 million but the top prize awarded in the U.S. was $167,500 in a celebrity spot with Levar Burton who donated the prize to charity.

Game shows can be engaging but face the music: it’s a waste of time. Instead of hoping and dreaming about how the money would transform your very existence be active about it: go back to school. Individuals with a college degree generally earn higher wages and have more satisfying positions than those who only earned a high school diploma. Do something good for yourself and earn that college degree.
