The Lakers got Game 1 of the NBA Finals in dominating fashion the other night and the NBA gambling sports books will be hard pressed not to widen the point spread for Game 2 in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers played nearly flawless basketball in the first match of the NBA gambling tournament on both ends of the court and it became obvious in the second half that if the Celts don't play close to perfectly, they will lose this basketball gambling matchup.

Pierce was fantastic in Game 1, particularly in the second half and finished with 24 points and nine rebounds on 6-13 shooting. But what's even more impressive about these numbers is the point that he notched all these statistics with a crazy Ron Artest swooping all over him for 45 minutes of basketball gambling event.

Artest may only be the biggest player on this Los Angeles squad during this NBA playoff gambling series if it weren't for Kobe Bryant and Pao Gasol. These 2 players shredded the Celtics for a combined 53 points and 23 rebounds, having their way with a normally imposing Boston defense. The combination of Bryant and Gasol put up better numbers than all 3 of the Celtic's stars combined. And that's not a solid sign heading into Game 2 for Boston devotees.

It was a leave from the 2008 series, when Bryant was forced to guard Pierce, and was similarly shutdown by Pierce on the other side. Artest was brought on board this NBA gambling offseason to take the pressure off of Bryant and do the defensive dirty work. He did that and more in Game 1 of the NBA Finals gambling event by not only chipping in 15 points on the offense board, but also making life unpleasant for Pierce. If he can replicate those numbers for the rest of the series, the Los Angeles Lakers will win handily.

Thursday night's competition was an outstanding performance by LA which seems to be receiving every series in the NBA playoff gambling event. There were some concerns in the early stages in the NBA postseason gambling when the team was tested versus the #8 seed Oklahoma Thunder but those lingering doubts have dissipated over the past few NBA gambling odds series as the Los Angeles Lakers have come together and played as well as any team in the NBA odds event.

Credit is due to the Los Angeles Lakers defense which was suffocating, however some of the Boston Celtics futility can be attributed to a bad shooting night.

Three more performances like that and the Los Angeles Lakers will grab their 2nd NBA gambling odds title in a row.
