On the list of contenders in 2010 Belmont Stakes gambling will be the Win Star Farm owned Drosselmeyer.

The horse came up 2nd to Fly Down, but was still highly highly regarded in the Dwyer Stakes. Drosselmeyer will get another shot at Fly Down and eight other horses in Belmont odds.

Ice Box, who finished second in the Kentucky Derby, will probably be favored in 2010 Belmont Stakes betting. Drosselmeyer probably will be among the next group of horses with odds ranging from 5-1 to 10-1. Win Star Farm has had an unpredictable ride in the Triple Crown races. Super Saver was never a factor in the Preakness despite winning at the Kentucky Derby. Win Star Farm might have had a lot more competitors but Rule and Endorsement never went to the big race. Super Saver gave them their first Derby win, though, and they had Super Saver and American Lion.

Win Star Farm will come back with Drosselmeyer in the Belmont. Here is the horse that many thought would be the finest in the Win Star Farm group. He didn't make enough to make the Kentucky Derby and then disappointed in the Dwyer. Elliott Walden, who is the general manager of Win Star Farm, stated that everyone had high hopes for Drosselmeyer.

The Belmont Stakes appears as though it will feature a lineup of 10 horses. Derby winner Super Saver and Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky will not be in the field. That ought to give Drosselmeyer a better chance to win. Drosselmeyer not too long ago worked six furlongs in 1:14.10 for trainer Bill Mott. He will have Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith in the irons in place of Kent Desormeaux. The horse has finished in the top three of seven of eight career starts. This will be the first horse since 1999 that Mott will be sending to the Belmont, but his fifth horse overall.

Drosselmeyer has the expertise to win the Belmont but the question remains if he will ever use it. To date it hasn't happened, but he was speculated to be the best horse for Win Star Farm. Other than Ice Box, there isn't a big name horse in the field, giving the 2010 Belmont a weak field. Since Drosselmeyer couldn't defeat Fly Down in the Dwyer Stakes, he will need to show he can defeat that horse now. Both horses are going to be underdogs though against Ice Box as he looks like the horse to defeat in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 5th.

Kentucky Derby fourth-place finisher Make Music for Me, Lone Star winner Game on Dude, Blue Grass winner Stately Victor, Stay Put, Uptowncharlybrown and Spangled Star are all other horses expected to be in the Belmont gambling lineup.

With a lineup of 10 horses in the Belmont it will be a smaller sized lineup than either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness. It appears that there are four or five horses that could be in the mix with the other horses considered longshots. It would take something unexpected for Make Music for Me, Stately Victor, Stay Put, Uptowncharlybrown or Spangled Star to win.
