People often neglect their bathrooms at the time of buying furniture, most are under the misconception that there is nothing more to bathroom furniture other than the usual bathroom mirror or cabinet set. Today almost all major furniture manufacturers offer bathroom furniture, believe it or not bathroom furniture too comes in Italian, Victoria and wrought iron finishes (to name just a few). In fact most interior decorators today include styling of bathrooms as a part of their services. If you have ever watched a popular life style program, you will notice that most celebrities are more than happy to flaunt their luxurious bathrooms, and the way in which the bathroom furniture matches the décor of the house.

Most people find themselves struggling when it comes to choosing bathroom furniture, as bathroom furniture has only recently been acknowledged as being equally as important as other household furniture. In fact there is a simple solution for people who are have trouble in mixing and matching their furniture. The solution is to buy a bathroom set, a bathroom set is a complete solution, and comes equipped with a mirror, cabinets and other bathroom furniture. Depending on the value and the size of the bathroom set, bathroom set's can pretty much take care of every single bathroom furniture requirement. Also the components of a bathroom set can be either wall hung, or free standing or both.

Before discussing the types of bathroom furniture any further, a couple of essential terms have to be understood, the first is wall hung furniture; as the name suggests wall hung furniture is affixed to a wall, such furniture has its set of unique advantages, and is usually cheaper than free standing furniture. Free standing furniture is the exact opposite of wall hung furniture and is designed to be a stand alone piece of bathroom furniture. Free standing furniture allows for greater flexibility and is usually a little more expensive when compared to wall hung furniture, however this is not a hard and fast rule. Both wall hung furniture and free standing furniture have their unique advantages, and depending on various factors like spaces, budget, taste etc., a person can choose between wall hung and free standing furniture.

Conversely more and more people are turning to a more hybrid way of decorating their bathrooms, where there is a liberal mix of both wall hung and free standing furniture used to decorate a bathroom. The advantages of a hybrid way of decorating a bathroom is that it allows for more creativity, and without ignoring the space and budget constraints, a person can make changes to the look and feel of the bathroom. Also by adding free standing furniture to the bathroom, a person can change the décor of the bathroom as often as he likes, agreed that changing around the wall hung furniture is not an easy task, but a hybrid décor ensures that frequent changes can be made without much hassle. However the downside of using both wall hung and free standing furniture in the same bathroom is, that it requires a proverbial 'eye' for detail and some amount of prior experience in buying bathroom furniture.
