Flight Training Simulator - It Could Possibly Save Your Life Some Day

At one point we may have all seen those movie clips or those TV skits in which the pilot of a jumbo jet dies of a heart attack during a flight.

And then there's nobody in the cockpit left who knows how to fly the plane. So the stewardesses grill the passengers to see if anybody on board who has any type of piloting experience, who may be capable to assume control of the plane, so that Air Traffic Control can talk them through guiding the airplane down for a safe landing.

Is it just me, or why does it always seem like the only person who has any amount of piloting experience, has to be the one whose sole experience with piloting planes is with the couple of hours he spent messing with a flight training simulator game for his home PC?

The above situation might sound like the stuff that TV sitcoms are made of, but there is a certain element of ironic truth to it. Is this situation really all that far-fetched as it may seem?

The reality is that piloting an aircraft in a flight training simulator is an extremely realistic experience. The computer engineering involved in programming today's flight training simulator software has advanced to the point where it has quite literally narrowed the lines between simulation and reality.

So by becoming proficient at piloting aircraft in a flight training simulator, you will have gained enough familiarity to shorten the gap between the simulator and its real-world counterpart.

Thus, in the hopefully unlikely event that this type of emergency as described in the nightmare scenario above were to happen, you would be in a position to naviate that airliner safely down to the ground, using nothing more than the knowledge you obtained by operating the simulator.

So all that practicing with a flight training simulator could save your life someday!

Considering all of the advances in computer software engineering technology that we have available to us in this day and age, in the modern era, one of the greatest resources that every pilot, irregardless of whether he or she is a newbie pilot or a veteran pilot, must have available to him or her, is a reputable flight simulator.

A flight simulator can help to bridge the gap during those unexpected periods of extended downtime in between flights.

It may also allow you to build on your skills, help you maintain your proficiency, and may even empower you to earn some supplemental time in those areas in which you could use some improvement.

Flight simulators can help you become a better pilot.

They can also help you to save money, as well as time, on unnecessary training or unnecessarily having to repeat performing the same practice maneuvers over and over again.

The good news is, flight simulation software technology is so sophisticated, that piloting a simulator is almost every bit as realistic as piloting the real deal. The instrument panel is identical. The control inputs are the same. The geographic "map" programmed into the simulation is based on real world cartographic data. The manner in which the aircraft performs to various internal (weight and balance, fuel, aircraft performance) as well as external (weather phenomena, air temperature) forces is designed to simulate real world scenarios.

For many people, a flight simulator is simply a really high-tech video game. And in many respects, it can be enjoyed at that level. After all, you never have to concern yourself about crashing the aircraft in a simulation!

But for many others, a flight simulator is a serious learning tool, and for numerous professional pilots, it is fundamental pillar of their aviation career.
