A fishing float also referred to as a bobber, is a instrument used by fishermen for two primary purposes. The fishing float works as a bite indicator when the fish holds onto the bait and it also suspends the bait in the water over the bottom at a prearranged depth to avoid snags so the angler can discover whenever the fish is biting a bait. Fishing floats is a great tool for showing young children how to fish, because it offers them a sense of imagery when the fish are biting so they learn when to try to set the hook and get a fish.
Fishing floats are made in many different sizes and designs for various circumstances. The long, thin ones are very sensitive which are utilized for coarse fishing. The waggler float is the most popular running line float thrown on silent waters. It is made from a slim tube of plastic which has the line threaded through an eye at the end. Another type of fishing float is named the avon which is used in slow-flowing water. An avon float is made with a large oval designed hollow area close to the tip so it can be thrown further because extra shots should be put onto the line so that the tip can be left on display. Some floats are also built with a directional regulation attribute which you can use to steer it on water by casting it when the current isn't flowing too fast and then steer them left or right, downstream, so you can get to areas you couldn't reach another way. If this is thrown on water which has zero current for example on a lake, you can reel them at quarter of the speed you would usually take to reel it in if they move at 4" for each 1" you reel. This greatly reduces the amount of time necessary to throw the fishing float by 75%. It can also be used to steer under docks or trees.

According to the details given you can choose a fishing float that best caters to your needs. To use the bobber you have to connect it to the fishing cord so the bait will be sustained at the desired depth. If the lake is deep, then you can connect it more up the line so that the bait sit(s) lower in the water. If the water is shallow, then put the bobber nearer to the hook a ball bobber has a spring loaded button on the head that when pushed shows buried hooks at the head and the bottom which the fishing line runs through to connect the float.
Whenever you use the fishing float, try to put on live bait such as night crawlers, earthworms, grubs, meal worms, and minnows and shiners. These are the best baits to catch fish beneath a bobber. You can use a number four snelled hook attached to a leader together with your fishing line. This size hook is an excellent selection to catch a large array of fish species. Throw your line out and reel in any slack that may be there when the hook and the bobber hit the water. This is important because when a fish holds on to the less slack, that is between you and the bobber the better the chances of setting the hook.
While the fishing float lay on the surface, observe when a fish starts to bite it, the float should start to move and send out small ripples. When the fishing float is drawn under all the way or strongly to one direction and yank back hard on the rod tip to try to set the hook. If the fish is caight, then you can pull it in, if not make a next attempt to throw it out once more.
