Fashionable Seasonal Transitions

Dressing for the summer months is simple: you pull out your floatiest frocks, invest in a new pair of sunglasses and buy one of this season''s best new bikinis. Dressing in winter is also stress free. Ditch the lighter fabrics of summer and layer up with jumpers, cardigans, jeans, tights, jersey dresses and leggings, whilst accessorising with hats, scarves, boots and gloves galore.

However, when one season starts to move into another the weather can become incredibly hard to predict making our fashion choices rather more complicated. It is an issue rarely addressed by many fashion journalists.

If you''ve been struggling with finding the right outfit to get you from one season to another, then here are a few handy hints to help you deal with the transitions between seasons.

Cardigans become incredibly useful when the weather is at its least predictable. Ladies cardigans can be prim and proper, or long, chunky and grungy and come in all manner of shapes styles and sizes. Having a good cover up with you, or an extra layer, can help to account for temperature variation between day and night or for those sudden weather changes that often occur between seasons.

Layering is also a great way to be sure that you can adjust your outfit to match the conditions you''re in. The layered and draped look is big right now and the most elegant way to wear it is by matching similar tones together. If in doubt, go for nudes and neutrals, simple and classic.

Invest in a great scarf or a wrap. These wonderful, one-size-fits-all items can come in handy in any number of occasions. A great cotton wrap or sarong can be used as a scarf in winter, a beach dress in summer, a sarong skirt in spring or an extra layer or cover up at any time of year. Supremely practical and elegant.

Have plenty of vest tops, T-shirts and long sleeved tops at your disposal. They won''t be the most exciting items in your wardrobe but they will certainly take you from one season to the next.

Whilst fashion can be lots of fun, dressing for comfort and practicality is also an important consideration. Finding out what styles work for you and being able to adapt them for any time of year is an enviable skill for any full-time fashionista.
