Several devotees at the sportsbook are asking how the New York Giants, who are facing a lot of pressure to win this season, will do in 2010.

New York went an unimpressive 8-8 last year plus they are not on the list of favorites at the sportsbook this season.

The New York Giants went a pretty poor 6-9-1 against the spread last season according to sportsbook numbers. The New York Giants play in a pretty challenging division with Dallas, Philadelphia and Washington so it will not be effortless this season. Head coach Tom Coughlin is reportedly feeling the pressure and another non-winning season may mean he is out in New York. Owner John Mara was pretty upset about how the team did last season and changes will be made if the team doesn't win this year.

The New York Giants began last season at 5- and that fast start against the NFL odds at the sportsbook actually made the 8-8 season seem a lot worse. The team did commit to change in the off-season when they got rid of defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan. The New York Giants gave up 427 points last season which was 3rd-worst in the league so Sheridan needed to go. He has been replaced by Perry Fewell. The Giants basically may not replace Steve Spagnuolo who left to coach the Rams. They'll attempt to do so this year with Fewell. Linebacker Antonio Pierce is going to need a substitute in the New York Giants as well. He suffered a herniated disk in Week 9 and didn't play the rest of the season. He might have played his last match. The New York Giants hope that they can locate a substitute with the top candidate being Jonathan Goff.

The Giants were able to score last year as they were 8th in the league in total number of yards and in total number of points scored. But due to the fact their defense was 30th in the league in points granted, it really didn't make a difference. The New York Giants start off the 2010 normal season at home in what should be a winnable match against odds at the sportsbook against the Carolina Panthers. The New York Giants are 7-point favorites in NFL odds at the sportsbook against the Panthers with a total of 40. If the Giants play nicely, the first section of the season is favorable for them. Three of their first four matches of the season are at home.

The Giants have a long background as champions. They are ranked 3rd among all NFL franchises in titles won with seven total. That total is beaten only by the Green Bay Packers, with 12, and the Chicago Bears with 9. The Giants have produced a good sized number of NFL Most Valuable Players and 15 Hall of Fame players. This is also one of the oldest teams in the NFL, having joined in 1925, and the oldest team in the Eastern Conference of the NFL. Their 85th and final season in Giants Stadium was a year ago. They are at this point relocating to Meadowlands Stadium, which they will be sharing with the New York Jets.
