Faith Means that You Already Have It!

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) Let's have a look and analyze the first part of that verse carefully. It defines faith as a substance. That must mean that it is made of something! And that something holds inside of it all things that are hoped for! How and what is it, then? A couple of verses further in verse 3 we are told that "through faith the worlds were 'framed' by the word of God." What a beautiful panorama! You can almost see the picture of all the worlds created by God surrounded by a beautiful gold frame. A snapshot taped to a wall is not very attention-grabbing, but a large painting embraced by a massive, gilded frame commands instant appreciation.

That last verse continues: "so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." That's where the last half of our first verse ties in: "the evidence of things not seen." Wow! That means that the things which we can see - and touch - are the products of something we cannot see. In other words, God's immense, awesome imaginative thoughts were 'framed' by His Word! Awesome! Can you see it? First He thought of something and then he spoke it into being!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us..." (John 1:1,3,14) That Word is Jesus, the Christ (the Anointed One). He is the spoken Word of God and His Words were creative. Therefore, if we look again at the two verses in Hebrews 11 above, we can now understand better the Power in the Word. His Word is Total Authority!

In Matthew 8:8-10 we learn about the Roman centurion who, as he was not a Jew, did not deem himself worthy to ask Jesus to come to his house to heal his servant. However, he was a man under authority, and whenever he gave orders to the men under his command, they did whatever he told them. He very simply told Jesus that all He had to do was "speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." The centurion's servant was healed within that same hour that Jesus declared out loud his healing.

Your faith, the 'substance' of your hope to have that request granted, is the magnet that draws it to you. The better you come to know Him, understand His Word, and take every Word as literal Truth, the more your faith grows. Practice speaking the Word. Your needs, wants, hopes, and dreams will all be realized as you speak them to Him.

Do not worry about anything; but in every thing by prayer and asking with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:6-7

When Moses reminded God of His promise to Abraham, the Lord changed His mind! (Exodus 32: 9-13) Therefore, as Moses did, remind Him that He is "the Lord that healeth thee." (Exodus 15:26) The more you see your healing and speak it out loud, the more real it becomes. Write it down and stick it on your fridge - wherever you can see it regularly. Know that you already have it! Then wait and watch for it to materialize!
