FW: Christmas Stamps "urgent"

I was watching a movie I rented from McDonalds today when I accidently moved my computer keyboard from my lap onto the top of the DVD remote. Of course that stopped the movie as the button the keyboard hit was the eject button. While the movie was reloading, I, being the computer nerd that I am, had to check my email. There I found this pass around email entitled: "Christmas Stamps "urgent"".

It was marked “urgent” in the subject and further identified as “Importance: High” in the header of the email body and uses very, very LARGE and RED and BOLD FONTS!. There was even someone’s assurance that the information in the email was “ok” because they “checked it out on Snopes”.

Turns out someone (whoever started this email thread) is upset because the post office has published a USPS stamp bearing a Muslim symbol (or sign or saying or whatever it is… I don’t speak Muslim so I am not sure). I am pretty sure that whatever it represents is not pornography, or political incorrect, or ethnically degrading (as I doubt the post office would print such trash). However the “message” of this email is that this stamp is religiously degrading to Christians as it contains a Muslim symbol and how dare the United States Government print anything that is non-Christian.

Come on people, this country was founded on religious freedom. Remember in Europe where “The Church” was in power and people wanted to get away from such domination so they came to America? Even “The Bill of Rights also prohibits Congress from making any law respecting establishment of religion and prohibits the federal government from depriving any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bill_of_Rights ). That is your and all of our Freedoms!

Yes there are Muslims in the world who are out to destroy America. However I don’t believe that all Muslims are bad people as I don’t believe that all Germans were Nazi or all Japanese supported the Empire. And I don’t think that Timothy Macfae (who blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma) or the kids that shot up that high school were Muslims. Terrorists yes because they used terror and violence to promote their causes.

And now for the rest of the story/email/message?

P.S. Please don’t use this stamp, if you choose or not, without adding postage to make it the now required $.42 cents!

P.S.S. The movie I was watching when I bad oops on the remote, was “The Visitor”. This was the description on the Red Box “A widowed college professor travels to New York City to attend a conference and finds a young couple, who turn out to be illegal immigrants, living in his apartment.”. Turned out to be a very, very good movie about the young couple who were duped into paying to rent an apartment actually leased for a long time prior by this college professor. Also turns out the young couple were Muslims and Non-terrorists!!
