In the course of my day to day work in the office, I get to know from many of my co-workers. The anecdotes they tell me are frequently remarkable. Most of the anecdotes are related to dental health but I also get to hear stories about peoples' experience in overcoming other disease conditions as well.

One of the anecdotes I I learned about a few days ago was from a buddy of mine. She bought an intriguing device from a brick and mortar store. It was a device that assured to help make her teeth much healthier. She had a dental appointment in less than 2 weeks from the time she bought the device. I I doubted that two weeks was sufficient time for this gadget to work its magic, and she had even less than that amount of time.

The results were outstanding. She said that the dentist told her that her teeth are in good health. She was positively thrilled. This was a lady who had, just a few months prior paid thousands on a dental surgery to help her teeth.

Unfortunately, just a short time later, she was being told that she needed another 'deep cleaning' treatment. This is also known as a scaling and root planing or SRP treatment.

She called me back afterwards, she was very sad over this relentless 'need' for pricey dental work. She was having a difficult time understanding why she had spent so much money and continued to require even more treatments!

I completely understand her situation. Although I luckily avoid the first pricey treatment that was recommended to me by my dentist, I still shrink from the idea of getting billed for something that ultimately is only a treatment that will truly likely need to be repeated later on. This is what she found annoying too!

There are a variety of things that can be done to boost dental health from home. In fact, if you quiz any dental professional they will tell you that, what you do at home has a larger meaning on your dental health than what they can do for you in their offices.

In spite of that, as patients we are seldom told WHAT to do at home beyond simple brushing and flossing. Unfortunately, the same professionals will tell you that up to 75% of the population suffers from some form of gum disease right now! The only reasonable conclusion is that most people need more to gain and maintain their dental health than mere brushing and flossing has to offer!

We are in need of a change in home dental health care. And the answer to this is the electric toothbrush! We have all definitely seen ads about this device on TV, it's really a new innovation. You can brush like a professional, with it's fully automated brushing motion that mimics a dentist cleaning tool, you will quickly notice a big improvement in your dental health with a little more than 4 uses. You will notice your teeth being cleaner and whiter, just like the feeling you have after visiting your dentist.

Your dentist will be delighted to see the health of your dental health improve. Since tooth decay really is the number one cause of tooth loss, you can bet that getting this area of your life under control can really help you to save your teeth and even keep them while you get older even while your friends may be getting more and more tooth replacements in the form of implants or dentures.

Having and keeping your own natural, living teeth is superior to having either implants or dentures. As the old saying goes: "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"!
