The truth is that everyone, men and women, has the same group of six muscles that make up what is called six pack abs. The predicament is that for many of us, those muscles are covered over by a layer of thick belly fat and so you can't really tell they are there.
All of that can change. If you are anxious to do what it takes to reveal your six pack and get rid of the fat that's in the way, read on.
There are two things you will need to do to bring out your six pack abs. Abs are muscle so to make them visible you need to define them and reinforce them with the proper exercise.
But first, you will need to consume the right foods to increase your metabolism which will make you burn fat much faster. That's what proteins will do for you. If you are willing to do these two things, eat right and exercise right, you will soon discover your six pack.
Still excited? Okay: Let's move on.
Eating right: Your abs are pure muscle. Protein builds muscle. Six choice sources of protein are fish, eggs, poultry, nuts, legumes, and meat. Begin a diet that is high in protein but does not cut out or rule out the other food groups. You still need a rational diet, just one that is high in protein. Of these six items, fish, primarily those high in omega 3 oils is an extremely good source of protein. Can you deal with the diet part? Okay.
Exercise: Crunches or sit-ups are an important excercise for strenghening and defining your abs. Lie on your back, bring up your knees with your feet flat on the floor. Clasp your hands behind your head and raise your body up using your abdominal muscles. Set a targetof 8 reps. At first, if you are not used to exercise, your stomach muscles will burn, that's good. You may only be able to do two or three reps. Stay with the program until doing 8 reps becomes easy without the uncomfortable burn. That's a signal that your abs are responding and being toughened. Increase your reps over time to keep challenging your abs.
Cardio: Any exercise that increases your heart rate for a sustained period of 20-30 minutes is good for burning fat. The good news is that the first fat to go if you have a good cardio schedule is belly fat. Walking is the easiest of the cardio exercises. Swimming, jogging, running, and using the tread mill are all good too. Choose what you are content with.
Stick with it. If you miss a day or have a bad eating day along the way, don't get discouraged and quit. Get right back into things the next day. Stick with the game and you will have what you want. You should begin seeing results after your first week. In four to six weeks, you will see someone in the mirror smiling back at you with a nice set of six pack abs.
