With the main intent and purpose of being to prevent fumes from coming in and energy escaping, you need to get a material that is going to effectively seal off your garage walls and ceiling When you spray on foam insulation it spreads out and fills in all of the gaps thereby making it completely sealed. R-values are the same as similar thicknesses of foam-board insulation and spray foam insulation is resistant to moisture damage.
